We specialize in online stores built on the osCommerce framework. We work with other systems on request, but we believe osCommerce offers the most versatile and cost-effective way of getting your business online.
| $150 | Bare bones osCommerce installation | |
|
You can see what a bare bones
installation of osCommerce looks like here:
This will give you a perfectly functional store with a comprehensive admin area for managing your store. You will, however, need to set up a payment gateway module in order to accept payments. By default, osCommerce includes a fully-featured administration area which makes it easy to add products to your store, manage stock and payments and all the things you would expect for an online store. The bare bones installation is the osCommerce default. If you want to change the look of it, you can either customize it yourself (this does require a fair amount of technical know-how) or talk to us about customization. |

| $100 | Set-up of payment module | |
|
Setting up the payment gateway is
perhaps the hardest part of getting your online store up and running.
We'll do the hard work for you. You will need to open one or other of
the following account types so that you can actually take online
payments, but we'll then do the fiddly stuff to get your store's
checkout area working.
Options for accepting payments include:
• Paypal - the simplest option. You'll need a Paypal Premium or Merchant account. This will enable you to accept credit card payments via the Paypal secure servers. Paypal is a cheap and easy way to accept payments and a good way to get started if you're not sure what volume of sales you can achieve. The downside is that customers are taken away from your site to the Paypal site as part of the payment process. No monthly fees - just a small transaction fee.
• Direct credit card payments - much slicker experience for customers. The downside is that you will need to have a merchant bank account plus an account with an established online credit card processor such as Authorize.net, both of which involve monthly expense. |

| $200+ | Customization of store | |
|
The appearance of an osCommerce store
can be substantially changed. Pricing really depends on how much you
want to depart from the original structure. Changes to colour scheme,
fonts, banners and other cosmetic aspects are relatively
straightforward. More substantial rebuilds of the layout and rendering
of pages will involve more work.
We're always happy to talk things through and give you a quote for development work. As a rough guide, customizing an osCommerce installation is likely to cost between $200 and $1000, depending your requirements. But much can be achieved with relatively simple changes. Below are links to some osCommerce site which are toward the simpler end of the spectrum.
